The Centre for Advanced Studies in Mathematics (CASM), Department of Mathematics, SBASSE arranged a three day conference on Qualitative and Quantitative Techniques for Differential Equations and Applications, in collaboration with the Punjab Mathematical Society from June 4 - 6, 2015. The Conference attracted more than 95 participants and 24 research speakers from LUMS, Dr. A Q. Khan Research Lab, Kahota, COMSATS(IIT), Islamabad, Wah Cantt, NUST, GCU Lahore, Univ. of Peshawar, UET, Lahore and Taxila and other research institutes in Pakistan. Two foreign speakers from Turkey and South Africa also presented their papers at the conference. Some of the papers were presented by MS/PhD students.
The chief aim of the conference was to provide awareness of some current topics from differential equations and the techniques which are involved in them to find the exact as well as computational solutions. Most of the Ordinary and Partial differential equations play a prominent role in many disciplines including engineering, physics, economics, biology and modelling of dengue and Ebola. Such equations have been studied from several perspectives, mostly concerned with their solutions. In the absence of exact solutions, many techniques have been developed to approximate the solution using computational techniques.
