"The LUMS Law Journal had the pleasure of hosting Mr Taffazul Haider Rizvi, Advocate Supreme Court of Pakistan, for a talk titled "Sports Law and PCB Functionality in Pakistan". This was a virtual interactive session held via Zoom.
Mr Rizvi started the discussion by talking about Pakistan's Sports (Development and Control) Ordinance, 1962. The Ordinance is the parent law under which Pakistan Sports Board and the Pakistan Cricket Board were created. Mr Rizvi highlighted the history of the Pakistan Cricket Board and the relation of the Board and with the State, particularly the courts, particularly judicial review. He also shed light on the evolution of Cricket as a sport and the relation of PCB with the International Cricket Council, and the role of Marylebone Cricket Club viz a viz cricket laws. He also discussed how anti-corruption and anti-doping are the new developing avenues within sports law in Pakistan. "
