LUMS secured the runners-up position in the ‘English Debate Category’ after an impassioned and energetic debate in the final round of the four-day Debate Contest by the HEC and Ministry of Planning, Development and Reform. The contest which held debates on the topic ’CPEC, the New Game Changer’, is part of Pakistan Vision 2025, a strategic plan that aims to serve as a roadmap for the country’s long term development. Universities from all over Pakistan, participated in tournament making it a truly national event.
The LUMS contingent was composed of two teams and two adjudicators on behalf of the Debating and Recitation Society of LUMS (DRUMS). In the English category, Humza Nadeem Jami, Mir Asfandyar Khan Mohmand, and Ghulam Abbas Azmat represented LUMS as speakers. Nawal Tauqeer was the adjudicator in the English category.
The Chief Guests at the final round of debates included the Minister of Planning, Development and Reform, Ahsan Iqbal, the Vice President of the International Islamic University of Islamabad, Dr. M. Bashir Khan, and Chairman of the Higher Education Commission, Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed.
