LUMS Team was awarded as the Runners Up team for the Phillip C. Jessup Moot Court Competition, 2019 Pakistan Regional Round. The Moot problem was concerning appropriation of traditional knowledge for commercial purposes, state responsibility for corporate environmental degradation and human rights violations, and majestic herds of migratory yaks. This year’s Pakistan National Round had 32 teams competing which made it the second largest national round in the world. In addition to the Runners up award, the team from LUMS also won the award for the Second Best Memorial and the Second and Third Best Oralist Awards.
The Jessup is the world's largest and most prestigious moot court competition with a history of nearly 60 years and with teams from more than 100 jurisdictions competing. The Pakistan National Round this year was the second largest Jessup National Round in the world - second only to China. The team from SAHSOL, LUMS will be representing Pakistan at the International Rounds in the beginning of April in Washington D.C.
