LUMS Sports Fest 2018 Attracts Students from Across Pakistan

The LUMS Office of Sports, Wellness and Recreation and student society, SLUMS (Sports at LUMS) hosted the tenth annual LUMS Sports Fest (LSF) from January 7 to 10, 2018. This year LUMS welcomed more than 1200 participants from fifteen schools and thirty universities from all over Pakistan. Enthusiastic students participated in Badminton, Basketball, Cricket, Futsal, Netball, Swimming, Squash, Table-tennis, Tennis and Volleyball matches organised by LSF.

Under the Social Responsibility Programme, the LSF host team arranged a first of its kind, blind cricket match. The teams included two renowned blind cricket teams, Abbottabad Cricket Club of the Blind and Right to Live Organization, Mansehra. Towards the end of the tournament, there was a closing ceremony to honour the players.

The social events organised for the participating teams included a concert, Food Street and a farewell closing ceremony. Popular Pakistani singer, Abrar-ul-Haq performed for the delegates and host team on the third day. For the entire 4 days of the festival, a delegate lounge was set up for the delegates to have some time to relax and enjoy. It comprised of a number of activities and food stalls and turned out to be the centre of attraction for the duration of the event. The event concluded with a Farewell Closing Ceremony which included the distribution of the awards and dinner. Lahore School of Economics won the best delegation over-19 trophy while Nixor won the best delegation under-19 trophy.
