LUMS Mathematics Faculty Selected as Humboldt Fellow

Dr. Muhammad Imran Qureshi, Assistant Professor at the Department of Mathematics, Syed Babar Ali School of Science and Engineering (SBASSE), Lahore Univeristy of Management Sciences (LUMS), has been awarded the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation Research Fellowship. Beginning this summer, Dr. Qureshi will be staying in Germany to initiate work on the research fellowship.

He is among the approximately 500 internationally renowned scientists and scholars selected for the competitive fellowship, which was established by the Federal Republic of Germany for the promotion of international research cooperation. The foundation’s network of over 27,600 alumni in 140 countries includes 52 Nobel Prize winners.

He will be hosted by the Eberhard-Karls Universität Tüebingen, one of the oldest German universities built in the 14th century.

Dr. Qureshi's research interests lie in Algebraic Geometry and its interaction with Representation Theory, Combinatorics and Topology. He will focus on the Cohomology and Hodge Theory of complete intersections in weighted flag varieties during his research fellowship.
