LUMS Emergency Medical Services (EMS) conducted a First Aid awareness session for the National Outreach Programme (NOP) candidates on July 22, 2016. The EMS team conducted six sessions to cater to the entire NOP Summer Coaching Sessions 2016 student body.
The aim of the sessions was to give basic knowledge on how to provide first aid in everyday medical emergencies. The session included information on medical assistance, interacting with bystanders during an emergency and safety of the person handling the patient. Candidates were also taught how to deal with different wounds and common medical emergencies, e.g. fainting, burns, and seizures. Apart from this, live demonstration was given to candidates on how to obtain radical pulse.
The EMS team provided the NOP candidates with emergency contact numbers in case they need any medical assistance during their stay at LUMS. The session concluded with a vibrant question and answer session.
