Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) and the Social Innovation Lab (SIL) have been recognised as one of the “Highly Commended” Global Higher Education Institutions of the year, through a joint award by GSEN (Global Social Entrepreneurship Network) and UnLtd UK. This award was part of the SEE Change Awards 2017, aimed to highlight the diverse collaborations and innovative partnerships that have helped develop ecosystems that support social entrepreneurship.
This award highlights institutions across the world that are most impactful in supporting and embedding a culture of social entrepreneurship across student and faculty communities and beyond. It is a great achievement for LUMS and SIL to receive such a prestigious accolade in a short span of four years.
The Global Social Entrepreneurship Network (GSEN) consists of 50 members in 50 countries worldwide. Its mission is to support global supporters of social entrepreneurs with a range of expertise, tools and resources to make their work both easier and more effective.
Since 2013, the Social Innovation Lab has enabled 86 change-makers to build sustainable social enterprises, creating an ecosystem that supports social innovation. They are achieving their mission through ‘The Hatchery’, an early-stage incubator for mission driven entrepreneurs developing innovative solutions to local and global problems. LUMS has been an integral partner to SIL over the past four years.
