Dr. Ali Qazilbash, Chair, Shaikh Ahmad Hassan School of Law (SAHSOL) delivered a lecture on 'Ethics and Values for Lawyers' at a seminar organised by the Supreme Court Bar Association at Avari Hotel, Lahore.
Dr. Qazilbash said that it is very important for lawyers to observe the Code of Conduct which has been formulated for them. He urged the legal community to implement a code of conduct devised by the Pakistan Bar Council, in letter and spirit. He pointed out that the accountability of judges will not work unless the accountability of advocates is not ensured. He also said that lawyering is one of the most respected professions in the world and it requires unprecedented care and responsibility by those practicing it.
The event was widely attended by the legal community from all over Pakistan. Justice Asif Saeed Khan Khosa, Judge Supreme Court of Pakistan, Ms. Asma Jahangir, former President of Supreme Court Bar Association, Mr. Abid Saqi, former President Lahore High Court Bar Association, Mr. Muhammad Noor, Chief Justice of Baluchistan High Court, Quetta, Justice (Retd.) Fazal Karim, Justice (Retd.) Riaz A. Sheikh, Mr. Asad Manzoor Butt, Secretary SCBA and Syed Ali Zafar, President Supreme Court Bar Association also spoke on the occasion.
