Around 250 alumni along with their spouses attended the LUMS Alumni Islamabad & KPK reunion on September 8, 2016 at the Monal Marquee in Islamabad. The ceremony kicked off with a speech by the Islamabad Chapter Head, Saud Mukhtar (BSc 2007), who appreciated the huge turnout at the reunion. This was followed by the magnificent O-Week video prepared by the Marketing Team at LUMS which summed up all the activities organised to welcome the 2020 batch.
Prof. Dr. S. Sohail H. Naqvi, Vice Chancellor, LUMS started with an overview of various happenings at LUMS. He talked about the impact of the donations and support that the Alumni give, for which the institute is grateful. A heart-warming speech by Syed Babar Ali, Pro-Chancellor, LUMS followed. He appreciated the fact that so many alumni attended the reunion.
Dr. Naqvi and Syed Babar Ali then presented the ambassador certificates and ambassador pins to Saud Mukhtar (MBA 2007), Islamabad Chapter Head and Khurram Rasheed (Bsc 2012), KPK Chapter Head, in his absence Sohaib Roomi (BSc 2008) accepted his certificate. A Letter of Appreciation was presented to Luqman Afzal (Bsc 2002), the owner of Monal for his generous contribution to the LUMS reunion. Furthermore, Haider Rafiq (MBA 1994), one of our top alumni donors in Islamabad was given a token of appreciation by Syed Babar Ali for his continuous contributions to the LUMS National Outreach Programme (NOP).
Later that evening, Junaid Shafqat (NOP, BSc 2010) talked about how LUMS transformed his life and was thankful to his institution for helping him realise his dreams. He was also grateful that LUMS gave him the opportunity to represent Pakistan in France at the Microsoft Imagine Cup, where he spoke at the UN leaders Forum in Paris. Motahar Paracha (NOP, BSc 2012) thanked LUMS for giving him the opportunity to study at the prestigious University and helping him fulfil his dreams.
The evening conculded with the serving of delicious food prepared by chefs at the Monal Marquee and a wonderful musical evening sponsored by Luqman Afzal. The alumni thoroughly enjoyed the evening and had a lot of fun at the gravity-defying photobooth prepared by Photographire. The evening was full of fun, laughter and countless memories.
