A team of senior French professors and administrators from notable universities of France and senior representatives of Campus France, the French national agency for the promotion of higher education, international student services, and international mobility, visited Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) on Monday, March 13, 2017. The delegation was welcomed by Dr. Jawad Syed, Dean and Professor of Organisational Behaviour, Suleman Dawood School of Business (SDSB), Dr. Martin Lau, Dean and Professor of Law, Shaikh Ahmad Hassan School of Law (SAHSOL), Dr. Ali Khan, Acting Dean and Associate Professor of Anthropology, Mushtaq Ahmad Gurmani School of Humanities and Social Sciences (MGSHSS) and respected faculty members of SDSB and Syed Babar Ali School of Science and Engineering (SBASSE), LUMS.
Representatives from the Office of Marketing and Communications briefed the respected delegation about LUMS, its four schools and the programmes it offers. The presentation was followed by a general discussion on promoting awareness of the French higher education system and future academic collaborations that could be explored at the institutional level among the Pakistani and French universities.
The visit was conducted in collaboration with the Higher Education Commission (HEC), Pakista,n in line with its efforts of establishing strong academic collaborations and development of highly qualified faculty to strengthen the higher education institutes of Pakistan.
The French delegation was highly enthusiastic towards promoting student and faculty exchange programmes between both the countries. Mr. Sebastien Cartier, Higher Education Attaché, commented, “All the French delegates present today are representing the best universities and business schools of France and we genuinely believe that LUMS is a high-profile research oriented academic institution. This visit will surely facilitate towards a better understanding of the French-Pakistani higher education system.”
