Commander Lahore Corps Visits LUMS

Commander Lahore Corps, Lieutenant General Sadiq Ali Hilal-i-Imtiaz (Military) along with his delegation of serving army officials visited Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) on Thursday, March 16, 2017. The delegation was welcomed by Dr. Jawad Syed, Dean and Professor of Organisational Behaviour, Suleman Dawood School of Business (SDSB), Dr. Martin Lau, Dean and Professor of Law, Shaikh Ahmad Hassan School of Law (SAHSOL), Dr. Shahid Masud, Dean and Professor of Electrical Engineering, Syed Babar Ali School of Science and Engineering (SBASSE) and respected faculty members of Mushtaq Ahmad Gurmani School of Humanities and Social Sciences, SDSB, and SBASSE.
 
Prof. Dr. S. Sohail H. Naqvi, Vice Chancellor, LUMS, briefed the delegation about the University, its four schools and the programmes it offers. The presentation was followed by a general discussion on current educational challenges faced by Pakistan and the role of army in these.
 
Lieutenant General Sadiq Ali, commented, “Without doubt, LUMS is certainly a bright face of Pakistan. The real value of knowledge coming out of this institution is worth appreciating. Real education is where there is tolerance for each other and everyone is allowed to openly present their views. LUMS graduates are more balanced, analytical and objective towards addressing the current challenges faced by the society of Pakistan. Nation building is not the job of one institute but only with collective effort can we provide strength to each other and LUMS is doing an excellent job and we assure you that whatever support is required it will be provided from our end.”
 
He emphasised the need for their whole hearted commitment towards attaining academic excellence as pursuance of education is the best way the students can defeat the forces of retrogression.
 
The Commander Lahore Corps and accompanied guests were also given a campus tour where they were shown different facilities including the SDSB, the Gad & Birgit Rausing Library and the Moot Court at SAHSOL.
